McGuigans B are in the driving seat in division 1 and hold a 1pt lead over Bears bar. 7 wins & 2 draws from 10 games sees the Monaghan St side bring in 2015 in top spot. McGuigans are sharing the wins around like a good team should but Paddy Kelly, Danny McGuigan & Paul McAreavey are the stand out performers. Cathal McCoy & the Gilbraiths will want to improve to keep McGuigans at the summit.
Bears are tucked in nicely in 2nd place a point behind with 6 wins & 3 draws from 10 games with 15pts. Gary Powell, Paul Murphy & Neil Heaney have been the top marksmen with Adrian Holman playing well lately too. Seamus Keenan & the usually steady Eddie Heaney have been contributing less than would be expected.
3rd place Quayside Rams will join Bears on 15pts if they win their game in hand. Currently they have 5 wins & 3 draws from 9. Mickey Nugent has been in top class form so far this season. Leigh mcAlinden is on a good run lately & Pat McClenaghan with Mal Maguire have been vital to the Rams title charge. Barney Preece will surely be crucial in 2nd half of season.
Joint 4th place Johnny Murphys are further back on 11pts with 5wins & a draw from 9 games. Marty White has been in stunning form so far this season with Declan Brady to keep the Sth Armagh side very much in the promotion hunt. Paul McArdle has hit a bit of form lately & Purcell, McCabe, Fearon & McQuid will need to be more consistent to break into the top 2.
Bellinis with 4 wins & 3 draws are also on 11pts. Gary Fitzmaurace, Paddy Fegan, Kevin Pearse & Michael Kinney have been playing great pool so far this season. Other team members need to improve if Bellinis are going to push for promotion.
Joint 6th spot CWC have 4 wins & 2 draws from 9 games and sit well back on 10pts. PJ Gilmore & Tommy Rooney have been the two top marksmen for the Hill St outfit. Cathal Murphy & John mcClorey have been in superb form too. McKeown & Kelland have played well in patches but improvement is needed all round if promotion is to become a reality.
6th spot Dans have identical record to CWC with 4 wins & 2 draws form 9. 10pts is a poor return with the players Dans have at their disposal. CWC thrashed Dans in the 'brook' 8-0 so there's work to be done. Seamus Tumilty has hit a bit of form lately with James O'Hagan & Seamus McVerry chipping in but Dans have yet to click into gear.
6th place TJs C are also on 10pts with 4 wins & 2 draws. Harry Brady is having a super season so far and Tony mCGivern & Johnny McMurray have chipped in with good wins. Dee Woods has come good lately but experienced players like Diddles McArdle & Taylor need to start playing some pool if TJs are to climb up table.
9th place Indo A are a super cup team but 2 wins & 3 draws isn't good enough for a team packed with quality players. Nicky Connell has been playing well. Brendan & Sean Curran and Kelland have started contributing. McClelland & Chan have found div 1 a bit tougher going than the old div 4 of last season. They'll be hoping to kick on in 2nd half of season.
10th place Ballyholland have really struggled this season with 1 win & 4 draws from 9 this season. Ballyholland won div 4 last season with ease finishing their league campaign undefeated. Jim McMahon has played superb pool. Giby Vittieal & Colm Shields have been important players but the rest are having a bit of a nightmare.
McSwiggans in 11th spot win 2 wins & 1 draw from 10 games is relegation form. 5pts is a poor return especially for Stephen Wylie who has been playing out of his skin. Apart from Wylie & Gareth McCoy & maybe Gary Clarke the rest have struggled beyond belief.
12th spot goes to Millvale who are destined for relegation unless they improve dramatically. 1 win & 1 draw from 9 has 2015/16 season div 3 written all over it. Paul Rowland can be delighted with his scoring rate. McDonald & Crozier have been doing their bit too. McGoldrick will need to find his early season form if Millvale are to survive in div 1.
13th & unlucky for some goes to O'Dowds bar. They are having a horrendous season - having to wait until their 7th league game to finally get a win. Their only other win came against rock bottom div 3 side Maddens bar. Barry Meade has played some great pool but can Cosgrove, Dempsey, Torley & co step up to the plate and save the Canal street side from the inevitable fall through the trap door?
