Whitecross (last years beaten finalists) took the lead through the excellent Cathal Phelan but Orchard took 4 from the next 5 frames to lead 4-2. Tony McGovern & Decky Campbell made it 2-1 Orchard. Brian O'Neill levelled it at 2-2. Mervyn Kernaghan & Brendan Devlin gave the Orchard a commanding 4-2 lead.
Michael Feenan gave the visiting Whitecross hope when he made it 4-3 but Sean McCaul & Lee Irvine sealed a superb win for Orchard over Premier Division leaders Whitecross Bar.
Other big results were Armagh/Down who are flying high in Division 2 (joint top) beat Dan's C who are joint bottom of the Premier. Bears won the in-house derby match with Windmill Bar by the minimum of frames 5-4.
James Clarke put Armagh/Down in the lead but the game looked to be slipping away to Dan's C when Jimmy McVerry, James O'Hagan & Terry Phoenix put the visiting South Armagh side 3-1.
But 4 in a row sent Dan's spinning out of the Cunningham Cup. Armagh/Down's sharp shooter Shane Durnin & then Willie Andrews, Sean Donnan and Brendan McCabe wrapped up a stunning win for the Newry side. Barry Boyle made it 5-4 but it was too little, too late for Dan's C.
Windmill have had some good results in the Premier Division but Bears are joint top of of Division 1 and brimming with confidence.
Garry Powell & Paddy Caldwell put Bear's 2-0 up. Windmill took the next 3 thanks to Tommy Broughton, Conor Cunnigham & Gareth White.
Adrian 'Oz' Holman, Paul Murphy & Paddy Rodgers fired the Bear's into the next round at 5-3 and Chris Marley sugar coated a bad result for Windmill to leave a final score of 5-4 Bear's.
McGuigan's A got a battle Royal in Nans Rams and sneaked through 5-4. It was the Rams 1st defeat of the season & sit joint top of Division 1. McGuigan's A are going well in the Premier but got a good test here. The Premier side trailed 3-1 and were in serious trouble.
Paul 'Skippy' Morgan fired in an outrageous break finish for McGuigans A. The former individual winner didn't inspire his team mates as Mick Nugent, Barney Preece & Leigh McAlinden put the high flying Rams into a comfy lead.
Ciaran Hanna & Gerard McGuigan squared the match but Jimmy O'Hare stunned McGuigan's to put Nan's Ram's on the hill. But McGuigan's held their nerve and thanks to Daniel McGuigan & Damien Flanaghan's brilliant finish to make the last 16 by the skin of their tips.
Cue Club kept their incredible start to the season going and remain unbeaten after a very good 6-3 win over Division 1 basement club Bosco. Bosco might be atrocious so far this season but the snooker club are new to the pool league & Bosco still have some good experienced players. Bosco are a young team full of potters & this was an excellent scalp for them.
McGuigan's B sit 1pt ahead off Johnny Murphy's in their all Division 1 clash. This was another of the 9 frame matches & it was the South Armagh cueiests that held their nerve to progress to the last 16 in Newry. All was not as it seemed though as Murphys were always in control. They led 3-1 & wrapped up the match at 5-2.
Cunningham Cup holders TJ's A sailed through with ease 7-2 over Sheepbridge B team. Sheepbridge A team didn't have it so easy though. They got a real good game from Moore's B. Moore's B sit 35th out of 36 teams in the Newry & District Pool League.
But Moore's Bar were still in the game after 7 frames, trailing 4-3. The biggest shock in long many a year was still on but Sheepbridge held firm to claim the final 2 frames & see out a nervy 6-3 home win. Niall McElligott, Daryl Poucher & Christopher Cunningham deserve a special mention for making a real game of it for the struggling Moore's.
Millvale Arms needed to win the final 3 frames at home to see off a strong Granvue Hotel challenge for a brilliant 5-4 victory.
Carrickcruppen also won the final 3 frames for a comfortable 6-3 win in McSwiggan's Bar.
Killeavy had a tough match against Boyds Bar but won it on the 8th frame thanks to a Paddy McCann victory, Boyds took the dead rubber final frame for a 5-4 Killeavy win in the GAA club.
TJ's D were amazingly 3-0 down but a stunning 5 frames in a row sealed a memorable victory which finishes TJ's D 5-4 St. Monnina.
Hustlers found themselves 3-2 down but they won they won the final 4 frames for a very good victory over high flying Ballyholland who are joint top of Division 1. Shane McAllister winning the all important 8th frame to send Hustlers through 6-3.
TJ's C travelled to Indo B and it was all square at 2-2. 5 frames in a row from TJ's C put TJ's into the last 16.
Trainors's of Camlough had a huge win over Maddens Bar. Maddens are a bit hit & miss this season & certainly had an off night as they got demolished 7-2 in Camlough. Paddy McKeown got the high fives as he won Trainor's 5th and most important frame.
CWC travelled to Forester's. CWC led 3-1 & 4-2 before Kieran Cunningham sealed the Forester's fate with the match ending 6-3.
