After TJ's A, Orchard Bar, Bosco and Whitecross made it to the last four all eyes were on who would miss Champions elect TJ's A.
Unfortunately for their near neighbours Bosco they have the unenviable task of taking on the so called 'Dreamteam' in CWC. TJs start as overwhelming favourites and with experienced players such as Kieran Hanna, Dee Brady & Sean McCaul along with the brilliant potting of Darren Devlin & Dee Kearney they will throw caution to the wind and give TJs a good game.
Orchard Bar verses Whitecross on paper is definitely a closer match-up.
Both league games ended 4-4 between them. The game will hinge on whether Karl Maginnis, Lee Irvine, Meryvn Kernaghan and Ritchie Crawford can win their matches or will Whitecross' Cathal & Shane Phelan, Michael Feenan & Joseph McTaggart give the villagers the upper hand?
Orchard just have a bit more experience so shud pip this one by a frame or two.
The Vegas cup is down to the last four and again TJ'A will take their spot in CWC where they will be playing surprise package Trainor's Bar on Canal Street. Trainors spent along time at the foot of Div1 but have clawed their way up to 3rd from bottom. Alex Carlon, Kenny Kearns, Connor Quinn & Ciaran Magill will go in with confidence but TJs will surely end the dream of an unbelievable giant killing act by Trainors.
The other semi is a harder match to call as 2 of the teams scrapping it out for 2nd spot in the Prem Div go head to head. Carrickcruppen will go in a favourites against a very strong Sheepbridge side. Harvey Lavelle & Paddy Clarke are 2 of the best players in the league. In Marty O'Callaghan & Marty McCone they have players that will take their chances.
Sheepbridge are a stronger unit but with only Seanie Markey standing out as a natural potter the rest will grind out results as good as any team in the league. Sheepbridge have no weak players which could prove vital in this match. Micky Cunningham, Barry Duffy & Gyn Trainor have experience to win close games.
TJs v Carrickcuppen would be the obvious final but certainly don't rule the old horses Sheepbridge.
The Quarter-final of the the Cunningham cup take place 24th of March.
McGuigans play TJ'A in the tie of the round. McGuigans have struggled lately but this one match could make their season. This could be the match of the season and McGuigans definitely have the firepower to beat the champions elect.
Bellinis take on Sheepbridge in TJs and Bellinis are going well this season but the craft of Sheepbridge will see the through.
Carrickcuppen take on Bears in McGuigans Bar & the fast table on Monaghan street means Bears have little to no chance.
Bosco v Whitecross is the closest to call. Whitecross have just beaten Bosco in the league but Bosco may have been saving themselves for this big clash. Just possibly Bosco might shade this one with they're experience and the match being played in Carrickcruppens good potting table could benefit the Newry side.
