Trainors's Bar in Camlough could be on the verge of a very special season and now sit proudly at the top of the Division 2 league table. They now seem to have a squad capable of lifting trophies with a good blend of potters and tacticians.
Tommy Mooney is certainly 1 player that can mix it up. He has vast experience & knowledge from his days in the all- conquering Corrinshego side. He put Trainor's 1-0 up with a comfortable win over Cavern Bar's Gerard Murphy.
Cavern Bar have really struggled this season so far & things went down hill quickly for the Newry side as they found themselves 3-0 down. Brilliant potter Declan Finnegan & Collie Rafferty hammered Anthony Kearney & Gary McDonald.
Joe Byrne had a hard fought victory over home favourite Luke Phelan to pull a frame back for the Cavern. But that's as good as it got for the Church Street Pub as they crumbled to the league leaders.
Charlie Doherty, Mark Trainor (with a rare win) Miceal McEntee & finally Paddy McKeown completed the rout. Jordan Copeland (still bruising from his white collar boxing match), Shane Copeland, Stuart Benton & Karl Feenan tasting more defeat for Carvern pool team.
Cue Club & Armagh/Down are both tucked in nicely joint 2nd a point off Trainors & Millvale the surprise package only a point further back. Cue Club had a hard fought draw against Granvue Hotel in Omeath. Granvue are slipping behind the leading pack but will still harbour dreams of being Division 2 champions.
Granvue lead 2-0 thanks to Richie Magee & Paddy Fisher. Jordan Murphy tasted a rare defeat and Eddie Lee followed suit.
Joe Magill, the super Philip Murphy & Sean McArdle turned the Omeath tide to give the visitors a 3-2 lead. Shane Feehan, Conor Dullaghan & Perter McCourt all tasting rare defeats.
Chris Smith tied up the match for The Hoteliers when he beat Frank McArdle for 3-3. Calvin Li has been playing well lately and he put the Newy cueiests on the hill at 4-3 but the young potter Paul Bruen is a class act and not for the first time he came up trumps for Granvue to rescue a share of the spoils with a great win over Raymond Murphy.
Armagh/Down had a handy night against John Moore's B. They had a shocking week last time out when they got humbled by mid-table Madden's Bar. But they travelled up the street to Moore's and wrapped up a stunning 5-0 win to seal the 2pts.
James Clarke, Caolan Marron, Sean Donnan, John Rogers & Oran Keenan the hero's for Armagh/Down and got their title ambitions back on track. Raymond Poucher, Dee Hughes, Daryl Poucher, Niall McElligott & Damien Doran the culprits for John Moore's players not picking up their win bonuses.
James Cunnane & Chris Cunningham took back a wee bit of pride with victories over Brendan McCabe & Shane Durnin to make it 5-2. Willie Andrews had a hard fought win over Amanda Pentony to wrap up a very welcome 6-2 win.
