The brilliant Barney Preece was taking part in a charity white collar boxing on Friday night but it was Garry 'the Precise' Powell that delivered the knockout blow with a sensational break & finish. That was a stunning blow and a platform for the visiting Bear's to blitz the opening half of this match.
Paddy Caldwell defeated the usually reliable Mickey Nugent for 2-0. New signing Sean McKevitt was a real coup for Bear's & his superb potting made in 3-0 with a comfortable victory over Jimmy O'Hare. Adrian Oz Holman is a bit of a Bear's potting legend & he ensured Bear's would leave with the minimum of a point when he defeated Mark Pentony for 4-0.
At last Malachy McGuire put a frame on the board for the hosts Nan's Rams when he got the better of Seamus Keenan. Leigh McAlinden is having a fantastic season for the Rams & he pulled it back to 4-2 to give his side hope of a draw. Paul Murphy on the losing side this time & the Bear's were under pressure.
But they needn't have worried. Paddy Rodgers was on hand to claim the 2 point prize for Bear's & keep his Windmill Bar side top of the league. His win over Brendan McNally delighted the visitors and Pat McClenaghan defeated Paddy Heaney in the final frame of the night to make the score a bit more respectable at 5-3.
TJ's D moved up into 2nd place in Division 1 with a hard earned home win over Johnny Murphy's Bar. Shiela Johnston won the opening frame in a tight match with Gary McNally to put Murphy's 1-0 up.
TJ's hit back with the next 4 with some of the best potters in Division 1 finding their form. Niall O'Hare, Callum Byrne, Matty Cartmill & Adrian Annett destroying Brian Harte, Barry McNally, Gavin Harte & a rare defeat for Martin White.
Emmet Fearon & Kevin Crilly pulled it back to 4-3 with very good wins over Nicky Irwin & Davy Hanna.
Potting sensation Jason Lennon was on hand to win the crucial final frame & Ryan McIlroy was on the receiving end like many before him as TJ's D look to get promotion for the 2nd season in a row.
McGuigan's C are finding a bit of form & are well in contention for Division 1 title honours. They slaughtered Sheepbridge Inn B in Monaghan Street.
Mark O'Hare & Rony O'Reilly settled McGuigans into a 2-0 lead. Donal McSherry a very experienced Premier Division player pulled the score back to 2-1 for Sheepbridge.
But that's as good as it got for the bowling ally. Dart enthusiast Liam Bradley, fellow thrower Noel Bradley, Matthew Cregan, Danny Cinnamond & Brendan Fitzpatrick rounded off a throughly comprehensive home win for McGuigan's D over a badly struggling Sheepbridge.
