Usually a few teams stand out as the obvious title challengers. Bar a handful of team this is as wide open a division as there's been in years.
CWC B look a decent bet to be up there fighting for the title. They've a very experienced side although brilliant potters are few and far between. Knowledge can be key in Division 2 so these lads won't be far away when the trophies are being handed out.
Foresters have a very good player in Kieran Loughran but they need 1 or 2 more to step up to the plate and they could be real contenders. They'd be a dark horse normally but this year they could bring back some Silverware.
Millvale put in a good show at times last year. Trainors were streets ahead in 15/16 in this Division but with a good push this team can bring back the Division 2 title. Some decent potters and good tactical players puts Millvale as real contenders.
Boyds are the perennial under achievers even though they won the Divisional cup last year. Most of this current team have played top tier pool and a serious change of attitude could bring home the Division 2 trophy.
Armagh/Down have a good potting squad and will be a game for anyone. They looked good at times last season and with that experience they could be title contenders this time around - if they roll up their sleeves and dig out results in the hard games.
TJ's C have freshened up their squad but have they got the ability and more importantly the belief to win the league? Probably no is the answer to both questions.
Cavern are way off competing for trophies. They need to get a settled side before the can start dreaming of Silverware. They've been living in the shadows of their neighbours Windmill Bar and another year in mid-table can be expected.
Saint Moninna might not have the firepower to sustain a promotion challenge but they are a great tactical team and nobody is going to relish going into South Armagh to play these guys.
Sheepbridge B have a few super potters in their side. They have a good mix of decent players and very average players. There may be no trophies this year for Sheepbridge B but at least the surroundings is nice and the craic is good.
Trainor's Bar had a tough season last time out and nothing suggests anything different in 16/17 season. The Canal Street Trainor's won't be following Trainor's of Camlough into Division 1 but I'm sure they will compete in and around mid-table in a tight Division 2.
Indo B can be a tricky place to go and get points but I have a feeling they will donate plenty this season. Staying off the bottom will be priority for Indo B but it's going to be difficult for this squad to make any sort of impact this season.
Madden's Bar love a good dogfight at the bottom of Division 2. Make no bones about it, this squad is going to take some hammerings. You can only applaud these cueiests for their dedication and let's hope they enjoy another huge scrap to avoid the 'wooden spoon'.
Armagh/Down have been handed no favours with their opening Fixtures. Forresters in Monaghan St, a trip away to TJ's C. Probable title rivals Millvale bar will visit in week 3 before rivals Boyds visit Armagh/Down in Week 4. If they come through this tough start still in contention then they will be delighted.
CWC B have a nice start where the can gather up plenty of points before the visit of Millvale in week 5.
Madden's Bar have a tricky start but their final 2 league games will hardly bare much fruit. Millvale will visit on the penultimate fixture and a trip over the town to Armagh/Down might seal bottom spot.
Cavern v Boyds is the big derby match of Division 2. Boyds will stroll up the hill in round 3 and will be expected to take maximum points.
Boyds v CWC B in the final league game - how crucial might that game be? Both teams should be right up there and Boyds would just love this to be the title decider.
Look out for the fantasy pool teams coming soon.
